Little Known Secrets About Soy Candle Making Supplies

Soy candles burn so clean they have become very popular in the last few years. There is certain soy making supplies that you need for making candles. As with other wax candles you have to have certain things to successfully make a candle. Since it is produced in this country the wax is quite reasonably priced. It is simply made from soy bean oil.

Many people prefer this wax over paraffin because it smells better naturally when it burns. It also burns cleaner than the paraffin too. Paraffin can release certain toxins that people sometimes do not like. So these people have turned to what they think is a better alternative.

Now the supplies you need consist of a double boiler, a jar or mold, wicks, and thermometer. Make sure to have all your soy making supplies organized to help you make your candles easier. Below is a further explanation of these supplies.

A double boiler is needed so that the wax does not get too hot when it is melting. If it heats up too much it can spoil the color and texture of the candle. If you don't get a true double boiler you can put two pans together to make one. It is simply a smaller pan for the top and a larger one for the bottom to fill part way with water.

A jar or mold is needed to make the candle in. Choose your size and shape of the candle carefully. Make sure the soy wax is good enough for the candle you want to create. If not, choose a different shape or size. If you choose a jar make sure it is out of a glass that is resistant to heat.

You need some cotton wicks for the candles. Not that you have to have wicks in this type of candle. Soy wax makes great wickless candles too. You know the kind that can be enjoyed with the electric candle warmers? As the scented wax melts the fragrance fills the air. These work when fire is not allowed or safe to have.

A thermometer is needed to tell if the soy wax has melted to the right temperature. The temp needs to be between 150 degrees F and 170 degrees F. This insures the candle will set up right and with no cracks.

Now the above soy making supplies are needed along with the soy wax, fragrances, and dyes. Make sure that they wax is pure. Add the fragrances and dyes slowly. Adding too much will not bring you satisfactory results.

The more organized you are with your soy making supplies the faster you can get your candle made. Why not make more than one at a time? Then you make the most of your time. Remember that soy candles make wonderful gifts for any occasion throughout the year. You can also scatter them throughout your house for that special added touch. So buy your soy making supplies today so you can get started.
